The early days of a marriage sure bring with them a whole bunch of lovely emotions but the butterflies soon fly away, only to be replaced by housework, mother-in-law woes and at times, babies
. Well, while that heady feeling seems dormant, I feel that the butterflies are always there. You just need to put in some effort to make them come back to life. So here goes. Check out these 12 ways in which you can bring back the head-over-heels feeling in your marriage.
1.Do something new:
We all have those ‘One day we’ll do this’ dreams that usually get overshadowed by work and family commitments. Take some time off and make it happen. Sign up for that scuba diving class or go take a trip together. The newness will surely add excitement to your relationship.
2.Go on a date:
I think this is easily the most-committed crime in a relationship. I often find myself swapping dates for fun nights with friends, and while that does have its own appealing element, be sure to spend some time on your own, as a couple.
3.Dress up:
Do we really need a reason to dress up!? You’ve got to admit, while PJ-nights are bliss, wearing a dress every once in a while, dolling up and spending a night out without a care in the world is blissful too.
4.Act out your fantasies:
Sit down with your partner and talk to him about what each of you wants to try out in bed. Pick a few fanatasies that feel right and act on them.
5.Revive the memories:
Listen to a favourite song or visit an old dating haunt, anything to get you in the early dating days mode. This will surely help bring back that dormant head-over-heels in love feeling.
6.Focus on the positive:
It’s almost too easy to concentrate only on the negatives and let bitterness rule the relationship. However, put in some effort and notice all the positive things that your spouse does. Make it a point to think and smile about one great thing he does, everyday.
7.Be in a happy space:
When you are in a happy space yourself it becomes easy to see the positivity around you. So sit down and think through your problems; solve what you can and let others go. Be happy.
8.Make a gratitude jar:
My colleague showed me this really cute post recently about someone who had started a gratitude jar. Just jot down all things nice and put them in the jar. Read through whenever you need a happy boost. Seems like a great idea to bring back the joy in your relationship.
