The singer is immensely talented, with a long string of hit songs decorating his claim to greatness. From ‘Shoki’, ‘Shuperu’, ‘Rihanna’, and many others he has consistently kept his end of the bargain, working himself in the studio to come off with pop hits.
But
he has no dedicated fans. Orezi has no core following that would hold
on to his every work, consume all the details of his life, and stand by
him in times of beef. Fans in Nigeria don’t influence album sales on the
streets but they are necessary for concerts and marketing.
Why Orezi has no loyal fans is not hard to point out.
Apart from showing up with a hit song, and a classy video to drive it
through the TV stations, the musician offers nothing more by way of
engagement.
When was the last time Orezi made the
news, led a conversation, committed himself to a cause, had a
controversy, or stood for something? No great artiste, or musician who
intends to improve on his fan base or make strangers show empathy and
ride under his banner can get by with being ordinary.
A
flip through Orezi’s social media confirms this fact. Orezi has nothing
to offer other than the random photo, and mildy-publicized singing
competitions. That cannot be way. The era of men transforming to
celebrity status via the mundane is gone. Emotion sells now, and Orezi
needs that to thrive.
How can he get his game right?
A
loyal fan is the person who buys your music, buys your merch, comes to
your shows, spreads the word about you, votes for you in competitions
and generally always sticks by you no matter what. Let them know they
are appreciated because, dedicated and loyal fans are crucial to your
success.
Orezi needs to use technology the right
way. This doesn't always resonate with many artists, but it is so vital.
First of all, a site. This should be the hub from where everything to
do with him and his music can be accessed by the public.
This
includes photos, videos, links to social network platforms, updates,
upcoming performances, reviews, biography, press releases, contact
information (for agent and promoter) etc. Next is social networking,
over the past decade or so, social networking sites such as Facebook,
Twitter, Tumblr and sites like that.
