APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not taking lightly Saraki’s decision to boycott a truce meeting called on monday by the leadership of the party,
Senator Saraki boycotted the meeting after reportedly telling party
leaders that as a former governor he could not attend a meeting summoned
by a ‘mere commissioner’, referring to Professor Yemi Osinbajo, whose
previous public office was as Commissioner of Justice in Lagos State.
A close associate of Tinubu who spoke to BREAKING TIMES on condition
of anonymity disclosed that Tinubu considered Saraki’s action a slight
and a threat to his leadership as the National Leader of APC. According
to our source, “Saraki has just made issues tougher for him. Tinubu
considers this a threat and an insult”, the source said. “Saraki is now
too big to attend meetings organised by the party leadership? They
should tell him there cannot be two captains in one ship”, Tinubu,
reportedly exploded in anger.
However, it appears that Tinubu is not the only one who feels
slighted by Saraki’s refusal to attend the truce meeting. Vice President
Osinbajo declined attendance at the meeting following Saraki’s rebuff,
describing Saraki’s action as the antics of a man consumed with ambition
for power. “When you are consumed with ambition for power, it is easy
to become blinded by arrogance to your superiors”, Osinbajo reportedly
said.
Saraki has since debunked the claim that he shunned the meeting in
disrespect of Vice President Osinbajo or the leadership of the APC. A
statement released by his media aide, Bamikole Omishore said he was
never invited for any meeting at 10:50pm on Monday evening, adding that
he has so much respect for the VP and would never disrespect him.
