There was confusion in the band of a notorious robbery gang that
has been terrorising Enugu State
and other parts of the south east of
the country as the police in the state has arrested one of the most
wanted armed robber in
Nigeria, Afam Omoba alias Obosi, after he was allegedly shot by a
member of his own gang who missed his target during an operation in
Eziobodo, Amechi Idodo near the state capital.
According
to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ebere
Amaraizu, Obosi who has evaded the police for several years, was brought
to nabbed by police operatives attached to Amechi Idodo when the gang
attempted to rob a victim in his house.
But a
young man in the residence they had gone to attack resisted the
hoodlums’ order that the victims should bring all the money they kept in
the house and in the confusion that ensued, one of the gang members
tried to shoot the guy but missed the target and instead he shot Omoba
in the leg.
It was the sound of the gunshot that
attracted the attention of the people in the neighbourhood which made
the members of gang to flee. The robbers took along the injured Omoba
but their escape was short-lived as a police patrol team arrived and
gave the suspects a hot chase.
The PPRO said that policemen combed the bush towards the direction the hoodlums ran to and eventually arrested Omoba.
