Thousands
of Odua People’s Congress (OPC) members and pro – PDP groups staged a
protest on three major roads in Lagos on Monday to call for the sack of
Chairman
of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Attahiru Jega.
Vanguard reports that in addition to rallying against Jega, the gathering also served as a pro-rally for President Goodluck Jonathan.
Sources
say the OPC members were seen brandishing weapons such as knives,
cutlasses and guns and harassed motorists and pedestrians. In general,
both groups’ activities are said to have caused heavy traffic on the
roads they occupied which were: Alausa, Olusosun, as well as Iyana
Oworonsoki and Ojota axis.
The
protesters also distributed flyers and leaflets, highlighting points
against Jega as well as why Jonathan deserves re-election into power.
