A 22-year old law student of University of Lagos, Temitope Oyedija recently emerged the overall winner in this year’s Onga National Campus Cooking Competition and won the star prize of 2014 KIA Rio car.
With the okro soup and garri she
prepared at the Grand Finale of the competition held at the Indoor
Sports Hall of the university, Oyedija dazzled other regional winners
who represented 13 other universities in the country.
Overwhelmed
by the enthusiasm of all participants in the competition, the
Commercial Director advised all the finalists to see themselves as
winners. His words: “We are proud to have all of you here today. See
yourself as a winner whether or not you clinch the star prize. As long
as you are one of the 14 contestants here today, you are a winner. You
will go home with a prize.”
Satisfied with the competition, Edna Obi,
Senior Category Manager, Promasidor explained that the event achieved
its objectives which include giving students across select campuses the
opportunity to sharpen their culinary skills and enlighten the public on
the wide variety of dishes enjoyed by different cultures across the
country.
Other contestants present at the Grand Finale include the first runner up, Isaac Uzoenyi, a student of Abia State University; Jessica Egbenwonu, a student of Faculty of Technology, University of Ibadan; Arafat Azeez, student of Environmental Resources Management, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB); and Christopher Xyztus, student of School of Natural and Applied Science, Federal University of Technology, Minna.
